SUMMARY:Salmon Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join LNCT and Cyndi Curtis from the Wild Salmon Center for a walk along Coal Creek\, a tributary of the Nehalem River\, in the Tillamook State Forest. We’ll stroll along the creek looking for spawning salmon in their annual rite and learn about the efforts underway to protect and restore critical salmon habitat in the watershed. \nThis event includes less than 1.5 miles of walking on a graveled state forest road with a gentle grade to a bridge where we will look for salmon and talk about restoration of the watershed. Participants may opt to venture further over overgrown and uneven surface to an off-trail location to view diverse salmon habitat or may choose to stay at the bridge and watch. If heavy rains eliminate the likelihood of seeing salmon\, we may opt to instead visit a nearby restoration site where we would walk a short distance along a graveled road to see a stream restoration project.
