Join experts from ODFW as we explore the phytoplankton in Netarts Bay and beyond! This event will combine research findings and expert insights with activities that are fun for the whole family.
We will start this two-part event at the Netarts Boat Basin, where we will learn how ODFW monitors phytoplankton throughout the Oregon Coast by collecting our own water samples (10:00am-11:00am). Then, we will head back to the Netarts Community Club (11:30am-1pm) for a short “Phytoplankton 101” presentation to provide context for what we find (or don’t find) in our samples. We will have microscopes to take a closer look at our water samples, as well as stations for creating art and playing games that will help us understand the roles of phytoplankton in the ecosystem.
